The Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle Sea-Tac Airport is a 124,000 SF hotel on three acres. The five-story hospitality building offers 146 rooms with underground and aboveground parking. Barghausen partnered with Western International to provide civil engineering, land surveying and landscape architecture services for the site. Our team prepared the conceptual site plan along with plans for demolition, TESC and sedimentation control, horizontal control, grading, paving, storm drainage, collection and conveyance, water quality treatment, a fire lane extension, domestic water design, and offsite roadway improvements.
Due to steep slopes on the site, the grading and paving plans required spot elevations, 1-foot contours, retaining walls and stairs to create the building pad for construction. Another challenge our team had to navigate around was a power line transmission that crossed the site. Stormwater plans included a modular wetland system for water quality treatment. Retaining walls were required on the east side of the property to collect upstream runoff around the project site.
Our landscape design team prepared plans for planting, irrigation, and tree retention. Plans included a water fountain feature that is the focal point of the hotel.
