The Lex Apartments
Tacoma, WA
Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Permit Expediting, Residential | 9-stories, 247 units
The Lex, located at 415 St. Helens, is a 9-story apartment building with 247 units overlooking Tacoma's scenic Commencement Bay waterfront. The new addition is within walking distance from the Tacoma Link Light Rail and will offer four levels of underground parking, rooftop gathering areas and a sports and recreation area.
Barghausen partnered with Ferguson Architecture to provide land surveying, civil engineering and permit expediting services for this three phased project. Our team created plans for demolition, TESC, grading, storm drainage, utility, roadway plans and frontage improvements. The stormwater plans included a 600’ storm line extension to serve the site. This project required pavement additions along with streetscape improvements on St. Helens Avenue. With the development taking place on a slope, extensive grading and ADA plans were required to ensure the sidewalks, ramps and parking lots met the city of Tacoma’s high standards. We coordinated closely with the architect to assist with floor elevations for the building and the parking garages to allow for proper drainage and flat entry ways.
