The Challenge
Safeway, Inc., is an American supermarket chain founded in 1915 with its primary base of operations in the western and central United States. Barghausen was contracted by Property Development Centers/Safeway Inc. for its Point Fosdick Square project. The project included:
- The raze and rebuild of a Safeway store as part of a two-phased 17.7 acre commercial redevelopment project
- The 11 lot development included the construction of a new 63,777 square-foot Safeway store
- The demolition of the old Safeway store
This project came with a set of unique challenges. For one, the old Safeway store had to remain open during the construction of the new Safeway store. Our team had to navigate construction phasing, in addition to phased utility design and coordination. In addition, we worked through public roadway improvements and stringent municipality design standards.
