Fred Meyer Stores, Inc. (owned by The Kroger Company) is a popular chain of hypermarket superstores located in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska. The chain was founded in 1922 as a one-stop shop for groceries, pharmacy needs, banking, clothing, home improvement items, electronics, toys, and more.
Barghausen got the opportunity to work with the Fred Meyer location in Palmer, AK. The redevelopment project included the demolition of an existing 93,000 square-foot Pioneer Square Shopping Center to accommodate the construction of a new 135,000 square-foot Fred Meyer Marketplace store.
A project of this magnitude, of course, came with its own challenges. Our team had to navigate unique topographic considerations as well as some tricky construction phasing.
