The Challenge
Fred Meyer Stores, Inc. (owned by The Kroger Company) is a popular chain of hypermarket superstores located in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska. The chain was founded in 1922 as a one-stop shop for groceries, pharmacy needs, banking, clothing, home improvement items, electronics, toys, and more.
Barghausen got the opportunity to work with the Fred Meyer location in Bellevue, WA. The remodel project included a 15,144 square-foot expansion to the 165,856 square-foot Fred Meyer store. This was a high profile project with extensive site upgrades.
A project of this magnitude, of course, came with its own challenges. In addition to an entire site parking lot re-design, relocation was necessary for existing truck docks, garden center, and various driveways. Re-design was also necessary for the on-site intersection and outdoor pedestrian plaza.
