Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Residential | 76,000 SF
Located on the border of Seattle’s Capitol Hill and South Lake Union neighborhoods, Derby Capitol Hill Apartments is a brand-new modern living residential complex. The building has easy access to transportation such as the Sound Transit Lightrail and SeaTac Airport, making it an ideal location for commuters. Currently, the complex is leasing units that are available for move-in.
Derby Capitol Hill Apartments is an 8-story building that features 168 studio apartments, all designed to provide residents with stunning city views. The building includes 76,037 SF of apartment space and a lawn and landscaping area of 3,923 SF. The residential community offers a range of amenities including an upper-level roof deck, a dog wash area, a large bike room, and two communal lobbies.
The complex was built on a 0.35-acre property that originally housed two separate residential buildings. The site underwent a process of demolition, excavation, and preparation before construction began. Upon completion, the on-site stormwater generated from the roofs will be handled through non-infiltrating biorientation planters. Trees will also be utilized to manage the on-site runoff water from other areas. All on-site stormwater will be either conveyed or run off to the existing city structure.
Our team provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for this project. Our firm prepared plans for street improvements, drainage, stormwater, grading, and utilities.
