The American Lake Logistics center is one of Vector Development Company's newest industrial additions to the Puget Sound area. The 158,579 sf warehouse was developed in Lakewood, minutes from I5 and centrally located between industrial hubs and shipping ports including Portland, Tacoma and Seattle. The building has 32 ft of height clearance, 26 dock doors and 35,000 sf of truck yard space. Barghausen provided civil engineering, land use planning and land surveying services for the project initiated by Vector Development.
Surveying, land use planning and engineering took place in several different phases. Phase one included the initial research of the site, SEPA documents, preliminary plans and permit coordination. ALTA boundary, topographic, tree, roadway and as-built surveys were also part the first phase. In phase two we prepared final onsite civil engineering, landscaping and irrigation design plans, a storm drainage report, frontage improvement plans and profile drawings along 146th Street S.W. and Woodbrook Drive S.W. The third phase of our involvement included construction administration services, post construction as-builts, turnover documents, legal descriptions and exhibits.
Demolition and the stormwater design both had unique approaches. The undeveloped site was over 8-acres and required the removal of existing infrastructure, telephone poles, asphalt, water, power and sewer lines. The site had ideal soils for permeation, so we installed four infiltration galleries under the pavement to handle 100% of the stormwater.
