Wesley Homes is a senior community with a variety of living options and amenities to fit different lifestyles. The various campuses offer residents peace of mind in a pleasant space so they can age comfortably. Barghausen was contracted by Wesley Homes for a complete redevelopment of the Wesley Homes Des Moines campus. The redevelopment will provide a variety of senior housing units in a combination of cottages, brownstone apartments and independent living apartments.

One of the unique aspects of this project included a 55ft grade change across the site. This required coordination with grading and landscape design to ensure the result is aesthetically pleasing and accessible to all senior residents. The landscaping was completed along with the phased construction to keep the new areas of the campus pleasant to live in while other redevelopments were underway. The client also requested the relocation of large trees cherished by the residents. We were able to accommodate this request by incorporating the trees into the overall landscape design. Our top priority was to keep the current residents happy and feeling at home during the renovation process.
