The Fairwood Shopping Center is a retail plaza located in the upscale Fairwood neighborhood of Renton, WA. Anchored by a Safeway and LA Fitness, the center welcomed it's newest addition of a multi-tenant retail pad building that hosts a Starbucks and a Mod Pizza. The overall goal with this project was to accommodate the surrounding wide range of retail commercial clients. Barghausen provided civil engineering, architecture, land surveying and landscape architecture services for the 4,715 sf building that sits on nearly 1 acre. The design included the demolition of existing structures on site and the removal of underground piping. The stormwater solutions involved catch basins, trench drains and LID planters; vegetated areas that treat roof runoff using bioretention. Site improvements required constructing a new 37 space parking lot, landscaping, and frontage improvements. Our architects collaborated with a reputable local consultant to find solutions to structural design challenges. Throughout the lifecycle of the project our team communicated with King County to finalize the site plans.
